Papon: Wish to take Assamese music to the world

Kyon Na Hum Tum (Barfi, 2012) singer Papon is popular among music aficionados who enjoy watching live gigs. And while he loves to belt out his Bollywood hits, Papon ensures that he also serenades his listeners with a couple of Assamese songs. Hailing from the northeastern state, the singer carries with him the weight of his heritage, and expresses delight at every chance to contribute to the music of his homeland. "I wish to take Assamese music to the world and make it big internationally. I want people to know about the different styles and sounds from the region," Papon tells mid-day.
