The sequel to Ram Gopal Varma's Phoonk is almost complete. But Ramu won't be directing. Initially, he wanted to helm the film but was tied up with his other directorial ventures like Rann (releases January 22) and his Rakta Charitra starring Vivek Oberoi.

The writer of the original, Milind Gadadkar, had started working on the script for the sequel even before the original was released. Ramu was so impressed that he hired him to direct Phoonk 2.

A source says, "The cast from the first film (Sudeep, Amruta Khanvilkar and Ahsaas Channa) have been repeated. This time around there are close to 20 spooky sequences."

The film is currently being shot in and around Mumbai and will be completed by month-end.u00a0

Ramu remained unavailable for comment.

Musical chairs
Newbie Adleen Khan was cast for an important role in the film but exited from the film after just three days of shooting. A source from the sets reveals, "The director didn't approveu00a0 and told her to leave. TV actress Neeru Bajwa who makes her Bollywood debut opposite Vivek Oberoi in Prince u2013 It's Showtime was then cast for the same role."
