Two’s company, three’s a crowd, but not when it is Akshay Kumar, Priyadarshan, and Ekta Kapoor. For a while, the actor and the director have been trying to collaborate, but their busy schedules have kept them from joining forces after their last film, Khatta Meetha, in 2010. Now, Kapoor has found a script that will bring the duo together. A source informs, “Priyadarshan narrated a horror thriller to Ekta, along the lines of Bhool Bhulaiyaa [2007]. Ekta loved the script and informed Akshay about the story.” On learning that the National Award-winning director would be helming the project, Kumar gave his nod; after all, they’ve made several hit films together, including Hera Pheri (2000), Garam Masala (2005), Bhagam Bhaag (2006), Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007), and De Dana Dan (2009).

Priyadarshan, who is doubling up as a co-writer for the film, caught up with Kumar on the sets of Singham Again. “Priyadarshan was busy with his film Appatha Tamil], which was released in July on a digital platform, so Ekta gave Akshay a narration. He then met Akshay, who was shooting in Hyderabad. He loved the story. The script has been locked, and now the rest of the details are being worked out. The film will go on floors in September 2024,” adds the source. When asked, the director confirmed his collaboration with Kumar and Kapoor for the horror comedy and said, “I am very excited to do this film.”
