Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, is projected to open at Rs 100-120 crore in India and Rs 175 crore worldwide. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala believes the film could challenge Dhurandhar 2's Rs 200 crore worldwide opening record

The big day is finally here! After months of pre-release buzz, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has hit the theatres today. Of course, the Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash-starrer started making its impact at the box office days before the release. When mid-day spoke to trade analysts hours before its big screen arrival, director Nitesh Tiwari’s epic was projected to open between Rs 100-120 crore across languages in India.
Chennai-based trade analyst Ramesh Bala said, “It will have an opening day collection of approximately Rs 120 crore in the domestic market and R175 crore worldwide.”
He added that Ramayana has the potential to break Dhurandhar: The Revenge’s record of having the biggest opening for a Hindi film worldwide at R200 crore, even as it may not pip the Ranveer Singh-starrer’s domestic collections to become the biggest opener of the year. “There’s a good chance that it will cross the Rs 200 crore opening set by Dhurandhar 2. It will have the potential to collect Rs 500 crore domestically and Rs 750 crore globally over its extended five-day weekend.”
