Katrina Kaif and her rumoured beau Ranbir Kapoor are likely to jet off to France next month, but not for a romantic holiday. Sources say they will be part of the 68th Cannes Film Festival starting mid-May.

A source says, "Katrina will make her red carpet debut at the prestigious film festival while Ranbir might promote his upcoming film 'Bombay Velvet' there."

Kat was supposed to walk the Cannes red carpet last year as the face of a global brand which sponsors the festival, but it didn't work out for as her film 'Bang Bang' was delayed. However, this time round, she has no date issues as major portions of both her upcoming films 'Fitoor' and 'Jagga Jasoos' have already been shot.

"If everything goes as planned, she will make an appearance at Cannes along with other ambassadors of the beauty brand, which sponsors the festival. She is waiting for the brand to make an official announcement for the same," says another source.

On the other hand, speculation is rife around 'Bombay Velvet' travelling to Cannes. The film is slated to hit the theatres on May 15, two days after the fest begins. An insider says, "Many of Anurag Kashyap's films, including 'Gangs of Wasseypur' and 'Ugly' have been screened there and there is a possibility that his much talked about project 'Bombay Velvet' being shown before an international audience. So, Ranbir might just travel to France to promote the film."

Ranbir and Kat remained unavailable for comment.
