In what has become an annual tradition, the entire Kapoor khandaan - replete with its four generations - would gather at Shashi Kapoor's Juhu residence on December 25 for Christmas brunch. With the veteran having passed away earlier this month, one would have assumed that the family would stay away from celebrating Christmas. But it has been learnt that Kapoor's son, Kunal and Karan have taken it upon them to take their father's legacy forward and host the family brunch this year.

Confirming the news to mid-day, Randhir Kapoor says, "My uncle was a family man and always believed in celebrations. In fact, he had told us that we should not mourn his death and instead, celebrate his life. I think his kids are just doing that and are paying an ode to him. Like my father, Raj Kapoor said, 'The show must go on.'" Randhir adds that the brunch will be a celebration of the fulfilling life that Kapoor had led. "Like every year, we are expecting the entire family to be there. As usual, there will be lots of food, and this time around, it will be special as we will remember Shashiji and share our fond memories of him."

We hear, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, who had headed to Pataudi to celebrate their son Taimur's first birthday, will be back in time for the gathering. The Christmas brunch was started by Shashi's wife Jennifer Kendal more than three decades back. When she passed away in 1984, Shashi continued hosting it at his residence to unite the entire Kapoor family under one roof for one day in the year.
