Renuka Shahane has expressed disappointment after Chakda Xpress with Anushka Sharma gets shelved. She shares how the actress worked hard on herself for the film. Anushka Sharma was all set to make a comeback with Chakda Xpress, that was touted to be cricketer Jhulan Goswami’s biopic. Even the teaser of the film was released, however, it never saw the light of the day. Now, actor Renuka Shahane who essays a pivotal role in the film, has reacted to claims of film getting shelved.

After the news of the Anushka Sharma-starrer getting shelved was out, Renuka Shahane spoke to NDTV and shared, “I am totally heartbroken. Basically, because I think everyone has put in so much effort. Anushka has also worked on herself so much for it. And whatever scenes I did were so powerful and so impactful, especially for women in sports."
“Jhulan Goswami is iconic, and coming from a very poor house and making it big—and yet the kind of discrepancy that still exists between men’s cricket and women’s cricket, and all other sports, I would say—Chakda Xpress had that core quality of sportsmanship," Renuka further added.

Before her, Dibyendu Bhattacharya also shared an update hinting at film getting shelved. “You don’t know how badly I’m waiting for the film to release because it is a fantastic film. It is the best performance of Anushka Sharma to date. I don’t know why they are not releasing it. It’s a really, really fantastic film."
When asked whether the film had been shelved or merely postponed, the actor admitted, “I have no idea. If I had any information about the film, I would tell you first. I really don’t know because Clean Slate is on one side and Netflix is on the other. What’s going on between the two, I have no clue,"
Why Chakda Xpress got shelved
The biopic was nearly complete at the time it was shelved, with only a few VFX shots pending. However, following the split between Netflix and Clean Slate Filmz, the film’s release became uncertain. Allegedly, creative disagreements and budget limitations contributed to the stall. Reports said that Clean Slate Filmz might repurchase the film from Netflix and might look out for other platforms for release.
