Being a mother is sometimes regarded as one of the most significant life changes, and for actor Richa Chadha, that change started with fear. The actor talked candidly about the emotional roller coaster she went through after learning she was expecting a child.
Richa acknowledged in an interview with Lily Singh that she was initially afraid after having a child. Anxiety dominated her early thoughts, not only about the state of the world but also about the profound personal transformation that comes with becoming a mother.
Richa on getting over protective for her daughter
Richa shared, "I was a little bit afraid. There's climate change, there's a genocide, there's so much rubbish going on in the world. Is having a child a good idea? When you are super independent, that bit changes instantly, because you have to be responsible for a human being. To commit to a child's only supply of food for the first six months at least is a big commitment. My initial response was fear. I was like, Oh my god, is my life over?"
Her fear turned into protectiveness when she came to know that she was having a daughter, she said, "I was like, ‘We live in India, I have to buy a gun’,” she said, only half-joking. “But then later I was like, ‘No, we will see. We will raise her to be strong like me’"

Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal welcomed their baby girl into the world on July 16 of last year. In a joint statement, the couple announced the happy news: "We are ecstatic to announce the arrival of a healthy baby girl on 16.07.24! We appreciate our well-wishers for their love and blessings, and our families are ecstatic! Zuneyra Ida Fazal is their daughter's name. The couple has opted to keep their baby's face hidden from the public for the time being, even though they have shared the good news.
Regarding her career, Richa most recently starred as Lajjo in the Netflix series Heeramandi, which was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Following the success of Fukrey 3, she has committed to a new comedy film, marking her comeback to the genre.
