B-Town buzz is that Percept is releasing its much-delayed project Nagesh Kukunoor's 8x10 Tasveer, courtesy Sahara.
It is learnt that Sahara One Motion Pictures is bailing out Percept Picture Company who are finding themselves in an extremely tight spot. 8x10 Tasveer is slated to release on April 3.
Adds the source, "As the Akshay Kumar-starrer is a big budget flick, it was important that Percept not delay it any further.
As a result, Shailendra Singh of Percept approached Seemanto Roy of Sahara. Due to their old association, the Sahara One head honcho agreed to help him so thatTasveer could see the light of day."
It is reliably learnt that Sahara has issued cheques to Percept to enable them to pay several unit members as well as the lab folk for the prints of Tasveer.
This was needed urgently for the required NOC from everyone for the film to release.
Inappropriate rumours
Shailendra Singh of Percept maintains, "This is not true. These are rumours being floated in the industry against us. We are working so hard on our own.
Tasveer is the only big summer release as the strike begins the next day. In fact, the stir was delayed by a day to enable the film to release. Against all odds, we are releasing the film. It is such an inappropriate time to resort to such rumours."
Singh however adds, "There has been an interest from Eros, Sahara and two international names. But nothing has been finalised yet."
In the past, Sahara had also bailed out Boney Kapoor when he was faced with staggering amounts of debts.
Sahara's projects include Sagar Bellary's Kaccha Limboo and Mumbai Cutting, a series of 11 films directed by Rahul Dholakhia, Jahnu Barua, Sudhir Mishra, Anurag Kashyap among others.
