Saiyaara directed by Mohit Suri has taken box office by storm. The romantic musical that stars Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in the lead will cross the 50 crore mark at the end of day 3
Still from Saiyaara
Mohit Suri's directorial Saiyaara has left everyone surprised with its box office performance. Despite minimal promotions with absolutely no media and audience interactions of the lead pair, the film has managed to take the box office by storm. Led by debutants Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, the romantic musical saw an exceptional opening on July 18. The box office momentum continued on day 2 as well.
Saiyaara day 2 collection
After opening at the Indian box office at Rs 22 crore, Saiyaara collected Rs 26.25 crore. Positive reviews from critics and a strong word of mouth have helped the film gain this achievement at the box office.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to X on Sunday to share the box office update of the film. He wrote, "Sensational Saturday- Saiyaara blockbuster trend continues after hitting it out of the park on Friday. Saiyaara posted phenomenal numbers on Saturday. In fact, the numbers would've been even higher had it received a wider release."
"What #Saiyaara is achieving is both UNIMAGINABLE and unprecedented. The film is in rampage mode – not just across metros, but also in Tier-2 and Tier-3 centres... Midnight shows are being added to meet the overwhelming demand," he added.
"Sunday is expected to surpass both Friday and Saturday... A Rs 75 cr [+/-] weekend is very much on the cards – HISTORIC, especially for a film headlined by newcomers.
Going by current trends, #Saiyaara is set to become the second #Blockbuster of 2025, after #Chhaava," the analyst further wrote.

Mohit Suri on modern relationships in cinema
Director Mohit Suri is critical of how modern relationships are often portrayed in today’s films. “Most people making films about Gen Z aren’t even from that generation. They assume what Gen Z is like, and often end up underestimating them,” he said in conversation with Mid-day.
“This is a country where Bhagat Singh was writing revolutionary poetry at 21. Why do we look down on the intelligence or emotional depth of young people of that age group? They’re not into only frivolous things. They have emotional maturity and depth. If you give them honest stories, they will respond to them.”
Suri believes that heartbreak feels the same across generations, regardless of how it happens. “It doesn’t matter whether you break up over a phone call, a letter, or a DM- it still hurts in the same part of your chest, slightly to the center-left,” he says. “We’ve always had complicated relationships. We just didn’t have fancy names for them before.”
