A day after Shah Rukh Khan was admitted to Bandra’s Lilavati Hospital, he successfully underwent a surgery to treat his right shoulder, which was injured while shooting for an action sequence for his upcoming film.

Khan had been putting off the surgery for over three to four months due to his ongoing commitments. Dr Sanjay Desai, the orthopaedic surgeon said, “An important muscle (tendon) that holds the rotator cuff at the right shoulder had a tear due to which it was getting very difficult and painful for him to move the muscles above his chest.”

The procedure, known as arthroscopic surgery lasted for about hour-and-a-half yesterday afternoon and the actor is expected to be discharged in a day or two. “The surgery is performed by making small incisions using a camera to see the insides of the shoulder joint,” Dr Desai added.

Khan underwent the same surgery on his left shoulder in 2009, which was conducted by Dr Desai. He further added that Khan would be able to resume work in the next two to three months. “He should be fit for discharge in the next two days,” said Dr Desai.

Injury prone
SRK has suffered three broken ribs, a twisted ankle, a blasted right toe, an injury to his left shoulder, a neck injury, a busted back bone and an injured left knee.u00a0
