Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' was the biggest blockbuster of 2023. Not just the year, but it broke all box office records to become the most successful film at the box office in the history of Hindi cinema. The Siddharth Anand-directorial also marked the return of Khan to the big screen after a gap of four years. Now, one hears that the makers are all set to bring back 'Pathaan' for a sequel.
According to a report in Pinkvilla, Shah Rukh Khan is all set to return to the YRF Spy Universe as 'Pathaan'. Producer Aditya Chopra has reportedly locked 'Pathaan 2' as the eighth film of Yash Raj Films's ambitious spy universe.

A source told the entertainment portal, "This is the twist to the YRF Spy Universe timeline - Pathaan 2 will predate Tiger vs Pathaan and will set up the clash of two cinematic legends on the big screen. Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan is definitely a character that has resonated with the audiences, and there is a constant on-ground demand from the audience to see more of SRK in the spy avatar. Soon after the release in January 2023, Adi and SRK had decided to spin 'Pathaan' into a standalone franchise too within the Spy Universe and the former started ideating the sequel of this all-time blockbuster".
Aditya Chopra and his team have reportedly being working on the script of the movie 'Pathaan 2' over the last year. "Pathaan 2 is being designed as the tentpole spy film of the universe that will set things up for bigger conflict in the times to come. It will set up the next phase of YRF Spy Universe's timeline. In fact, P2 sets things up for the big battle between Tiger and Pathaan (Tiger vs Pathaan) in the future timeline,” the source further shared.
Shah Rukh Khan as 'Pathaan' was last seen in a cameo appearance in the film 'Tiger 3'. His character was seen coming to save Salman Khan's character in 'Tiger 3'. The YRF has also announced a spy film starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in the lead which will introduce them to the universe. The makers are also working on War 2 which will see Hrithik Roshan battle it out with Jr NTR.
