After completing Cocktail 2, Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna are reportedly reuniting for a new romantic drama. As per Variety India, the untitled film will be directed by Badhaai Ho filmmaker Anil Sharma and promises a fresh, emotional and layered take on modern romance

Rashmika Mandanna and Shahid Kapoor recently wrapped up shooting for Homi Adajania’s Cocktail 2. While the sequel is all set to release this year, rumours are rife that the actors are gearing up for yet another film, which will be directed by Badhaai Ho director Anil Sharma. The film promises a fresh, emotional and layered take on modern romance.

According to an exclusive report on Variety India, “Shahid and Rashmika are believed to have struck a great professional rapport during the filming of Cocktail 2 and readily agreed to work together again when approached for this latest project. This untitled film promises a refreshing blend of romance and comedy, with their on-screen dynamic expected to be more personal, emotional and layered compared to the breezy, modern relationships explored in Homi Adajania’s Cocktail 2.” The film will be produced by Sunir Kheterpal under The Vermilion World banner in association with Jio Studios.
About Cocktail 2
Backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, the story of Cocktail 2 has been penned by Luv Ranjan, and it also stars Kriti Sanon in a pivotal role. The details regarding the plot of the sequel have been kept under wraps for now. It is a sequel to the 2012 film that starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty. As per reports in mid-day, the film is set to hit theatres by September 2026 to ensure a clear six-month gap after Shahid Kapoor’s earlier outing, Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’Romeo.

Workwise, Shahid is gearing up for O’Romeo. The film is inspired by the life of gangster Hussain Ustara and stars Triptii Dimri, Nana Patekar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vikrant Massey and others in pivotal roles. Presented by Sajid Nadiadwala, O’ Romeo is helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. The film is set to release theatrically on February 13, 2026.
Rashmika, meanwhile, has a packed lineup ahead. Following Cocktail 2, she will feature opposite Vijay Deverakonda in the historical epic Ranabaali, which releases on September 11, 2026. She also has Mysaa and Allu Arjun–Atlee’s ambitious actioner, AA22xA6, in the pipeline.
