Given the subject of the film, the director thought Diwali was the perfect time to launch the teaser. "The festival of lights is the right occasion for us to throw light on a subject that needs to be discussed. We look forward to making a film that is both commercially entertaining and encourages a conversation on the subject," says Shree Narayan Singh.

Shahid Kapoor is said to play a lawyer who raises his voice against the unethical practices of the power distribution companies. mid-day had earlier reported how Abhishek Bachchan has been approached to play the parallel lead while Katrina Kaif is likely to play Kapoor's love interest in the drama, which has been written by 'Rustom' (2016) scriptwriter Vipul K Rawal. Says a source, "Both Katrina and Abhishek have expressed interest. The final cast will be announced soon." The project is slated to go on floors in January.
