It’s his birthday today and Shahid Kapoor woke up looking forward to the day without any professional engagement. Apparently the actor, who was racing against time to wrap up the shoot of his film, had planned in advance to take two days off to mark his 32nd birthday.

A source says, “Shahid was going through a lull in his career post Mausam. That’s when Rajkumar Santoshi came to his rescue and cast him in his next opposite Ileana D’Cruz. He promised himself he would finish shooting before his birthday as a gift to himself.”

A friend of the actor states, “His last film had long schedules taking him from Mumbai to Mysore and to a few other places. He was happy he finished work in time for his birthday.”

Sasha will apparently usher in the special day by watching the annual Academy Awards on TV. “He will soon start preparing for his next film with Prabhu Deva,” adds the source.
