Siddhant Chaturvedi recently shared that he was shortlisted for Laila Majnu at the age of 22 but lost the role as the makers felt he looked too young.He admitted to attending the film’s screening just to see what he had missed out on. The film eventually starred Avinash Tiwary with Triptii Dimri
Siddhant on auditioning for Laila Majnu
Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri are all set to share screen space in Dhadak 2. Before this, Triptii got critical acclaim for her stint in Laila Majnu alongside Avinash Tiwary. However, Siddhant Chaturvedi also auditioned for the role alongside the Animal actress. He reveals being rejected by makers for looking too young.

In an interview with Just too filmy, Siddhant revealed that he was shortlisted for the 2018 film. He shared, "I was shortlisted for Laila Majnu, and I was 22 at that point of time. (I came) very close. The thing is the guy had to be older than the girl. I didn't know who was going to be playing the girl. It was my audition round days. I auditioned, but they felt I was a little too young.

He added, “I grew my beard. My brother shot me in his new camera, and I made a profile that I sent them. Obviously, it didn't work out. I went to the screening of Laila Majnu, just to know what I was missing out on”.
Talking about Laila Majnu, it marked Triptii’s debut. The film tanked upon its release in 2018, but has developed a cult following over the years, particularly after its digital release. In August 2024, the film was re-released and went on to earn four times than what it minted back then.

The film was earlier scheduled to be released on November 22, 2024, but faced delays over certification issues. It will now hit the screen on 1st August. To note, it will release alongside Ajay Devgn’s Son Of Sardaar 2.
