On Wednesday, Karan Johar and Ranveer Singh had teased netizens about a 'big announcement' coming up today.

We bet fans must be excited for this collaboration between the terrific trio of Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty.

Simmba is said to be the Hindi remake of Junior NTR's South film 'Temper' (2015). Sources had earlier told mid-day that Ranveer Singh will be a silent producer on the project. Speaking about Ranveer Singh's casting in the movie, Rohit Shetty told mid-day that Singh's casting is fitting given that the actor is suited for the energetic performance of a corrupt police official. "The script is best suited for Ranveer. It is an out-and-out action masala entertainer, a kind that he hasn't attempted before. We will include amazing action sequences, and given the kind of energy and enthusiasm that Ranveer has, I'm sure he'll do justice to the part," Rohit Shetty told mid-day.

Although Rohit Shetty had purchased the rights for his outing, he said that his film will only borrow from the original Temper. "Around 20 per cent of the original story will be retained; the rest will be amended to suit our audience. We will start rolling next year," Shetty told mid-day.

Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh have previously worked on a commercial for a brand of noodles and also created an extended short film as part of the brand promotions.

Karan Johar, meanwhile, has said that he will announce a new film with actress Sonakshi Sinha within the next two weeks. Their last collaboration was "Ittefaq", directed by Abhay Chopra and produced by Dharma Productions. Karan is also producing Ayan Mukherji's 'Brahmastra', which will be trilogy, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan. Karan is also backing 'Dhadak', an adaptation of the acclaimed Marathi film 'Sairat', through his banner Dharma Productions. While 'Dhadak' will mark Sridevi's daughter Janhvi's foray into Bollywood, Ishaan Khattar is making his acting debut with Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi's India-set movie 'Beyond The Clouds'.
