Riding high on the success of her film, the young director Gitanjali Sinha is busy planning her next project. CS caught up with a tete-a-tete with the filmmaker: <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2012/may/Gitanjali.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 370px; " /> On cloud nine I feel elated to know that I have the support of those who appreciate meaningful cinema. In spite of the obstacles, I am happy the industry and the audiences have appreciated Yeh Khula Aasmaan. It is a great feeling. Masala vs content I wanted to make a meaningful film, a film that was straight from the heart. A film about our roots, a film that is real, and has a message conveyed in an entertaining manner. As a person, I give a lot of importance to family bonding, and hence felt that it was a perfect subject for my first film. If you are strong in content, the adulation or appreciation will follow. You don&rsquo;t have to think masala everytime. You have to think content. Flying high I wanted a metaphor to convey my thoughts. And producer Hemendra Aran is an avid kite- flyer. During one conversation he told me how he was motivated by his grandfather and kites since childhood, and it fitted into my story perfectly. This explains the kite-flying backdrop of the film. I too have such memories of my grandfather. <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2012/may/Gitanjali1.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 345px; " /> An ensemble cast For the characters of Avinash and Muskaan, I chose Raj Tandon and Aanya Anand, as I wanted fresh faces. And for Gulab Rai, there could be no one more earthy than Raghubeer Yadav. Yashpal Sharma fitted into the character of Kailash perfectly. I wanted to show a man who retains his Indian persona even after living abroad for years. I know many people who are like that. And though there are people who feel he&rsquo;s miscast in that role, I tend to disagree. Yashpalji to me is perfect. Future plans I have plans to make a horror flick next. Touche!u00a0

The film Yeh Khula Aasmaan has found appreciation with critics and masses alike, thanks to the simplicity with which the emotions have been conveyed.
