Actress Sonakshi Sinha feels that as more and more women-centric films are coming out, it is a great time for women to be in the movie industry.

The actress says even the audience today is more open to watching films in which actresses play the lead roles.
When asked if women in Bollywood are taking up central characters in films, the "Dabangg" star told reporters, "Yes they are...and I think it's about time they did. There are some great characters&nbsp;being written for women in films."
"The audience has become much more accepting about what they are watching on screen so I think it is a great time to be a woman in Indian cinema," she added.
The 29-year-old was speaking at the launch of her new song "Rajj Rajj Ke" from her film "Akira".
The track, composed by Vishal Shekhar, has been sung by Sonakshi.
The "Lootera" actress said "Akira" is the name of her character in the film, which signifies graceful strength.
"'Akira' is a Sanskrit word, which means graceful strength. It applies to the girl, who is graceful and strong. She knows where to use her strength and her power." Directed by AR Murugadoss,&nbsp;"Akira" is a remake of 2011 Tamil film "Mouna Guru". The action-thriller features filmmaker Anurag Kashyap in a negative role and also stars Konkona Sen Sharma.
In the film, Sonakshi will be seen as a fearless young woman, doing high-octane stunts. "Akira" is scheduled to release in September 2.
