Suniel Shetty says his family members are obsessed with Athiya's husband KL Rahul
Suniel Shetty, one of the biggest action film stars in Bollywood, turns 62 on August 11 this year. He took a break from his acting career and has focused on a more holistic way of life in the past years. Talking about how the change came about in his life, the actor told Mid-day in a recent interview that he decided not to pursue his career as nothing good was coming out of it.
"I realized 10 years ago, where am I going? What is with this career? I have been making mistakes, I cannot get out of that. I made the decision to say I don’t want to do this anymore. Let me take a break and then decide if I want to come back. In two years, dad fell unwell, so that got me spending 3-4 years with him. Then came the pandemic. This entire gap led to the realization that there are so many other things that I could do in life. It was good that I was pursuing it, till the time good was coming to me. When junk is coming to me, who are they to decide whether I should accept it or not? Then realizing that food matters, spice matters, training matters, and being happy matters, is when the change in physical self also came," he said.

He is one of the fittest senior actors in the country. And his jeans from when he was 18 still fits him! Suniel revealed, "My pair of jeans when I was 18, is still the one in my cupboard. Every time I want to test whether I have put on or not, that’s the pair of jeans I get into. I never wear loose clothes like shorts or tracks throughout the year because they expand."
The actor also had some of the most beautiful things to say about his son-in-law, cricketer KL Rahul. Rahul married Suniel's daughter Athiya Shetty in January 2023. When asked what he would warn Rahul about, Suniel said, "Don’t be such a beautiful human being, that we seem inferior in front of you. You cannot be such a good boy that everybody believes that this is what goodness is about and not you. That’s the kind of child he is. I always tell Athiya you are blessed. I tell her she is blessed, not necessarily the other way around. Of course, Athiya is a beautiful child… My mother, wife, sister, sisters-in-law are all obsessed with him."
