Athiya Shetty has quit Bollywood to embrace motherhood, choosing to step away from films despite receiving multiple offers after her last release. Suniel Shetty praised her decision, saying she found the "best role of her life" as a mother

Senior actor Suniel Shetty has revealed that his daughter, Athiya Shetty, has quit movies. Athiya made her acting debut in 2015 with the Salman Khan production Hero. The movie also marked the debut of Sooraj Pancholi. After that, she did only two films — Mubarakan and Motichoor Chaknachoor. All three films failed to gain much appreciation or box office success.
Athiya Shetty quits Bollywood
In an interview with Times Now, Suniel Shetty said that his daughter had chosen to step away from the film industry to embrace a new phase of her life — motherhood. Shetty revealed that Athiya received many offers after her last big-screen outing in 2019 with Motichoor Chaknachoor, but she didn’t feel comfortable taking them up.
“She said, ‘Baba, I don't want to,’ and she just left. And that's what I salute her for — saying, ‘I'm not interested. I don't want to do films.’ After Motichoor Chaknachoor, a lot came her way. But she said, ‘I don't want to. I'm comfortable, you know?’” Suniel Shetty said, revealing the conversation he had with his daughter.
He further added, “And today, she’s got the best role of her life. You know, she’s working in the best film — and that is life. The role of a mother. And she’s loving it.”
Athiya Shetty embraces motherhood
On March 24, Athiya Shetty and her husband, KL Rahul, welcomed their first child — a daughter named Evaarah. The couple took to social media to announce the arrival of their little girl and shared a joint statement that read,
“Blessed with a baby girl. 24-03-2025.”
In April, the new parents revealed their daughter’s name — Evaarah, which means “Gift of God.” Athiya and Rahul shared the announcement via a joint Instagram post, along with a heartwarming photo capturing a tender family moment: the cricketer cradling their newborn while Athiya looked at her lovingly.
“Our baby girl, our everything. Evaarah, Gift of God,” they captioned the post.
The couple chose a special day to share the name with the world — KL Rahul’s 33rd birthday.

Meanwhile, Suniel Shetty is gearing up for the release of his film Kesari Veer that also stars Sooraj Pancholi. The film will be released in theatres on March 23.
