Actor Suniel Shetty has been part of the film industry for over three decades. He rose to fame as a leading man in Hindi cinema, known for his intense, action-packed roles. He also stood out in negative roles and villainous characters. Over the years, he has embraced different platforms and languages, evolving with changing times.

Suniel Shetty says star kids have a difficult path to success

Recently, during an interview, he spoke about how the industry has changed and why it's now more difficult for star kids to succeed than outsiders.

In a conversation with Hindustan Times, Suniel said that while earlier outsiders faced more pressure, now even star kids struggle to find success.

“The kids have to work harder to prove themselves. Earlier, it was taken for granted, ‘I’ll be a part of this, this is my hierarchy, and I’ll belong here.’ Today, kids know they need to educate themselves and come prepared as actors, with their acting, physique, and everything else. You need to be absolutely prepared. Go to school and come back; don’t believe you can jump into high school or college without learning the basics,” he said.

Shetty also reasoned that part of this shift is due to increased competition, but more so because of the relentless criticism from the audience. “Everybody is judgmental. Everybody believes they’re a critic. And it’s not critical appreciation of cinema, it’s critical trashing of cinema that’s going on,” he added.

Athiya and Ahan’s journey in Bollywood

Suniel’s elder child, Athiya Shetty, made her acting debut in 2015 with Hero. She went on to do three more films, but none of them succeeded at the box office. She eventually stepped away from acting. Her last film was Motichoor Chaknachoor alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui in 2019.

On the other hand, Ahan Shetty made his debut with Tadap in 2021. He is yet to release his second film and is currently working on Border 2.

Suniel's work front

Meanwhile, Suniel Shetty’s new show, Hunter Season 2, directed by Prince Dhiman and Alok Batra, starred Jackie Shroff as the antagonist. The series follows Suniel Shetty as ACP Vikram Sinha, who takes on the criminal underworld in a desperate attempt to rescue his daughter.

Also featuring Anusha Dandekar and Barkha Bisht in crucial roles, the show premiered for free on 24th July on Amazon MX Player..
