Sunny Kaushal and Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer ‘Hurdang’ dropped its trailer recently. The film revolves around the student agitation from the ‘90s.

Speaking to mid-day.com about how he got into the character of Daddu Thakur, Sunny says, “I had to understand the world where he comes from, that was it. I took a lot of help from Nikhil sir (director Nikhil Bhat) as well. I learnt the physicality of Daddu from Nikhil, because he is from that part of the country. When we had readings and he used to narrate Daddu to me, he had this change of body (language.) He used to portray Daddu while reading the script. So, I took that and put it in Daddu. The blending in was important because everyone else apart from Nushrratt, Vijay (Varma) and I, was from that part of the country, Allahabad. We would stick out like sore thumbs if we weren’t in sync. We spent a lot of time speaking to people and hearing their stories, just to understand their psyche and where they come from.”
