Listening to veteran ghazal singer Talat Aziz presenting soulful songs at concerts is a treat and it's even better when he owns the stage all by himself.&nbsp;After four years, he is set to perform at a solo concert in Mumbai. Titled Jashn-E-Ghazal, the show will be held on February 8 to support HURT Foundation, which works towards safeguarding human rights for children.
Elated over his a solo comeback in the city, Talat says, "I have been doing solo shows in the US, Dubai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Bihar and Kerala, but I don't know why I hadn't had one in Mumbai for a while. The last one was in 2013. I am looking forward to this show and want to dedicate it to every child," says Talat.
Apart from his popular ghazals, the singer will croon rare numbers from his repertoire, which he generally doesn't sing at live shows. "I will pay tribute to Nida Fazli saab, Mehdi Hassan and Jagjit Singh. But the highlight of the show will be my rendition of ghazals that I have recorded in the last 36 years of my career, but haven't sung them so often. I will also present my popular tracks from Umrao Jaan (1981), Bazaar (1982) and Daddy (1989)," says Aziz.
Speaking of the advantage of performing in a solo show, the singer says an artiste gets enough time to connect with the audience. "You don't have to worry about the next artiste," says Talat, who will not charge any money for the show.
