Although Vadh 2 was largely praised for Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta's performances, another actor who quietly had his share of relevance to the narration was Amitt K Singh, who played the investigating officer, Ateeth Singh. When he sat with mid-day for a candid chat, we asked him about the film, his career and more. Here are some excerpts from the conversation...

Amitt K Singh about his career gap

When asked about a gap in his career, he says, "I would not say very selective. There was a gap. After Ziddi Dil Maane Na, I could not take any work for almost a year because I lost my dad that year. So, I was not able to focus on work and could not take on any work. And then I got back to Bombay, and I started auditioning."

He admits being a little selective, saying, "But yes, I have one thing in mind that I will not do anything. I'll do something which I can relate to. It's always better to wait for the right opportunity rather than do anything just for the heck of it. Instead of doing just anything that does not make you happy. Happiness is the only purpose of life. If you're doing something and it does not make you happy, then you should not do it.

"So I take some time, I look for challenges. That's what I keep in mind. There are several desperate moments where you feel like doing it, but I just wait it out. I think, 'It's okay, if I'm closing this small door, another big door will open for me in the future," he concludes.

Amitt K Singh on working with Sanjay Mishra, Neena Gupta

Amitt also spoke about working with Neena Gupta and Sanjay Mishra in Vadh 2. He admits, "I was a little concerned that I was going to work with them. They come with so many years of experience. An actor always puts himself in doubt if 'Am I good enough?', a kind of imposter syndrome. But once I met them and started working with them, it was all gone. They made me feel so comfortable. After that, I was really looking forward to starting my shoot and, you know, doing scenes with them."

He adds, "Before I had done it, I used to think that it must be very intimidating to work with them. But when you work with good actors, it makes your work so easy.  Earlier, I used to think that it must be very challenging to work with such big actors. But later, I just let myself go with the flow. But once I started talking to them and work with them, my misconceptions vanished that it is easy to work with great actors, it makes your job so easy."
