Veteran actress Kamini Kaushal, widely recognised as India's oldest living actress, died at the age of 98. According to reports, she has been suffering from health concerns related to her age.

According to a close family source. "Kamini Kaushal's family is extremely low profile and needs privacy." Kamini was one of the most recognisable characters in Indian film. She apparently appeared in almost 90 films during her illustrious career. She began her career with Neecha Nagar, which won the coveted Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) at the Cannes Film Festival in 1946.

She later acted in a number of important films, including Shaheed, Nadiya Ke Paar, Shabnam, Arzoo, and Biraj Bahu. Do Bhai, Ziddi, Shabnam, Paras, Namoona, Jhanjar, Aabroo, Bade Sarkar, Jailor, Night Club, and Godaan are some of her other well-known works.

The actress also appeared on television, with her most famous show being Chand Sitare on Doordarshan.

In the past interaction with IANS, the veteran actress reflected on her career trajectory, Kamini Kaushal had said, "I never felt overwhelmed by watching myself on-screen. I always looked at my performances critically. When I look at any of my films, I ask myself if I managed to convey what I wanted to express through my performance. Am I looking convincing in the role?"

Kamini Kaushal further added, "Also, for me, my director is the first audience, so I have to be in sync with my director because, in the end, I am executing his vision, right? There are many times when I did not do the rehearsals with Bimal (Roy) da, but read the script, worked on that scene internally, and told Bimal da that 'Let's take the shot' and it came out right."

Kamini Kaushal is survived by her sons Shravan, Vidur, and Rahul Sood. They have yet to produce an official statement.
