Mesmerised with the quality of the pen she hands out, Bachchan spends the night signing autographs for D'Souza and her friends - "Dost ke liye, padosi ke liye, bhai-shai ke liye," he says &mdash; in a bid to keep using it.

It appears, Big B relived this part of history almost a decade later on Saturday. The mid-day photographer caught the actor in the midst of promotions for a book launch in the city. Asked to sign a copy of a book by a fan, Bachchan was handed a pen by his proposer. The megastar loved the pen so much, he simply requested to keep it. Now, who can deny the veteran anything, let alone a humble pen? But Big B, was it the same brand?
