Heaping praise on co-star Sunny Deol and talking about Border 2, Varun shared, “A war can never be won by an individual; it takes all forces to come together. In Border2, we have the Army, Navy, and Air Force together—oh yeah, and also the one-man army, Sunny Deol.”
About Border 2
Directed by Anurag Singh, the film is the spiritual sequel to the 1997 epic war action-drama film. It revisits the Battle of Longewala from the 1971 India–Pakistan war, while also expanding its narrative to include stories of sacrifice from the Navy and the Air Force. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, Border 2 is all set to hit cinemas on January 23, 2026, coinciding with the Republic Day weekend. The film also stars Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, Mona Singh, and Medha Rana in lead roles.
In Border 2, Varun Dhawan is all set to play the role of an Indian Army officer inspired by the real-life hero, PVC Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya. Talking about his intense prep for the film, he revealed to a fan, “I in fact injured my tailbone while shooting the Battle of Basantar. I shot for 40 days in Babina for that, with real soldiers.”
Varun’s upcoming movies
Varun Dhawan and David Dhawan are reuniting for the fourth time with Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The Ramesh Taurani production will feature Pooja Hegde as the female lead, along with Mrunal Thakur. During the fan interaction, Varun debunked rumours of being a part of Luka Chuppi 2 and stated that he is not interested in doing sequels anymore.
