Hi Priya! Today is 'World Internet Day 2022'. When was the first time you learnt about the internet?
First time would have been ages ago. I don’t even remember to be honest. I mean it’s been a while, but, I must have been like 4-5 years old I believe (smiles).

Who taught you the basics of internet?
My father for sure. He was the most excited about it (laughs)

Have you taught your parents or anyone about how to use the internet?
Well… back then, when I was a kid, my dad taught me the basics of internet. But, now the tables have turned. I’m the one always teaching them new things about the online world. I guess that’s how it works doesn’t it?

What are the ‘genres’ of websites do you generally visit?
All genres. I mean about movies actors’s health… everything under the roof. Anytime I have any queries about anything in life, I simply Google it! Not always a good thing though. Also, most of our work and shopping and so many other important things are now done online.

Which is your frequently visited website?
YouTube and Google for sure!

What is the one thing that you like about the internet? And why?
It’s made the world a very small place and it’s wonderful to always be able to stay connected with everything happening around the world. Specially for someone like me who lives so far away from family.

What is the one thing that you DO NOT like/ hate about the internet? And why?
I don’t really hate anything but privacy could be one thing I can think of when it comes to the disadvantages of the internet! As much as we all connected now I also feel somewhere we have lost the basic privacy that we had. You can find out about what anyone is upto at any point of time online. All our lives are online now and not sure if that can be a good thing in the long run.

Can you imagine a world without the internet?
At this day and age the world would be handicapped without internet. Like living in the stone ages again were everyone was disconnected from the rest of the world and if used right internet can truly bring the everyone together in a great way.

In a day, how many hours are you online?
Well… thanks to social media and Instagram and all these apps, I feel this generation ends up spending a lot of their free time online. I have recently tried to cut down on it. It’s very addictive for sure but I have come down to may be a couple of hours a day max unless it’s for work.

Do you panic if your internet gets shut down for a minute?
For sure… WhatsApp and emailing are honestly the only way we work nowadays. All your work happens online and suddenly when it goes down you feel like you are completely cut off from the world and that’s definitely scary.

Are you an internet addict?
A lot of my work happens online plus the random scrolling on apps. I guess I am sort of addicted to the internet. I mean, who isn’t!
