Zubeen and Garima Saikia Garg
Nearly six months after the death of legendary Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, his wife Garima Saikia Garg has opened up about the one fear he often spoke about in the years before his passing. Speaking at the Panchayat Aaj Tak Assam event, Garima shared an emotional insight into the singer’s thoughts and state of mind during his later years.
Garima Saikia Garg gets candid about Zubeen's fears
Garima revealed that Zubeen was never someone who was easily frightened. According to her, he lived a fearless life and rarely spoke about being afraid of anything. However, in the last few years before his death, he repeatedly mentioned that the only thing he truly feared was time.
Recalling their conversations, Garima said that the singer would sometimes point to his watch and say that time was the only thing that scared him. She remembered him telling her that if there was anything he was afraid of, it was the passing of time and nothing else.
The comment stayed with her, though she admitted that she never fully understood why he felt that way at the time. Looking back now, Garima believes that the thought may have been connected to the many personal losses Zubeen experienced in a short span of time.
She explained that the singer had gone through several painful moments in life, including losing close family members and friends. These tragedies deeply affected him and may have made him more aware of how fragile and unpredictable life can be. Garima suggested that perhaps those experiences led him to reflect more often on the passage of time and the fleeting nature of life.
