Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning premiered on Day 2 of the Cannes Film Festival, and it was indeed a grand night for the cast and team of the film. Before the premiere of the much-anticipated film, the cast walked the red carpet with the iconic Mission: Impossible theme music playing live. While everyone was busy admiring the team's grand entry on the carpet, many noticed that the cast broke one of the important rules of the Cannes Film Festival.
As Tom Cruise, along with the other cast members, walked the carpet, they were snapping selfies. In 2018, the Cannes Film Festival announced that selfies were forbidden on the red carpet.
The festival’s artistic director, Thierry Frémaux, told Le Film Français magazine seven years ago that it diminished the prestige of the red carpet. “On the red carpet, the trivial aspect and the slowing down provoked by the disorder which these selfies create tarnish the quality of [the red carpet experience] and of the festival as a whole,” he said in 2018.

On Day 2 of the Cannes Film Festival, Tom Cruise brought the house down with the premiere of his upcoming action thriller Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, receiving a standing ovation lasting about five minutes. This thunderous response from the viewers left Cruise emotional, as he was seen with watery eyes. According to sources, the CBFC has muted multiple English expletives, including words like “bastards” and “bitch.” A source revealed, “The film was largely approved without visual cuts, but words considered inappropriate for the younger audience were muted or replaced. It’s a standard process for Hollywood tentpole movies aiming for a wider Indian audience.”
