BTS members Jimin and Jungkook have completed their mandatory military service, becoming the fifth and sixth members to be discharged. With only SUGA left, fans eagerly await the group’s full reunion after nearly three years
Jungkook and Jimin
It’s the month of BTS reunion, and we are now just one step away from the grand moment. On Wednesday, BTS members Jimin and Jungkook were discharged from the military after completing their two-year mandatory service. Their discharge comes a day after RM (Namjoon) and Kim Taehyung (V) completed theirs. Now, only SUGA remains, with his discharge scheduled for June 21.
Jimin and Jungkook celebrate with giggles
Like the other members of the South Korean boy band, Jimin and Jungkook also stepped out from the military base in their army uniforms. They were enthusiastically greeted by the press waiting for them.

In the photos from their discharge, Jimin and Jungkook can be seen smiling for the cameras and greeting fans and media who had gathered at the site. The two were also seen giggling while covering their faces behind the bouquets they received.
Jimin's speech after discharge
Addressing the media after discharge, Jimin said, "Thank you for coming to see us from far away. ARMY, it’s been quite a long time — from COVID to the military — so thank you for waiting. Now that I’ve been discharged, I think we can continue to draw the picture we’ve been envisioning. We will prepare and show you an even better image.”

He added, “The military was my first time, and it wasn’t an easy place. I never expected it to be easy, but it was both tough and rewarding. We endured and learned a lot together. I’ll cherish these memories for a long time. If I may say this — to those outside — the military is a difficult place. Many are having a hard time. If you can, please say something kind to soldiers when you see them.”
BTS members military enlistment
RM and V are the third and fourth members of the seven-member group to complete their military service. Jungkook and Jimin became the fifth and sixth to do so. Earlier, Jin and J-Hope were discharged in 2024. SUGA, the final member, will complete his service on June 21. All members will then be seen together for the first time in three years.
The K-pop group BTS began their military enlistments in 2022, starting with Jin in December. Each member has served different roles with durations of up to 18 months. With the discharges nearly complete, anticipation is high for the group's long-awaited comeback.
