BTS’ Jungkook named in 25 million USD cybercrime case as Chinese hacker extradited

A Chinese hacker accused of targeting BTS’ Jungkook and stealing assets worth $25 million was extradited from Thailand to South Korea. Authorities say the cybercrime network hacked financial accounts, cryptocurrency wallets, and personal data of celebrities and wealthy individuals.

A Chinese national accused of masterminding a massive cybercrime network targeting celebrities, executives, and wealthy individuals including BTS member Jungkook has been extradited from Thailand to South Korea. Authorities claim the hacking operation stole nearly 25 million USD worth of assets through identity theft and illegal access to financial accounts.
Jungkook mired in a cybercrime controversy
According to South Korea’s Ministry of Justice and the National Police Agency, the 40-year-old suspect arrived at Incheon International Airport from Bangkok earlier this week and was immediately taken into custody. Investigators allege he was one of the key leaders behind an international cybercrime syndicate operating mainly out of Thailand. The group reportedly hacked several websites and stole personal information from victims between August 2023 and April 2025.
