David Fincher and Hwang Dong-hyuk
Squid Game season 1 blew everyone's minds when it premiered in 2021, and its finale still leaves a particular area (itch) in everyone's psyche. The show's last season premiered in June 2025, eliciting varied comments from fans. People were unhappy with the ending, yet many appreciated it since it was unexpected. Amidst all the excitement, the show has finally moved to America.
Squid Game America is finally on the cards
Following three successful seasons in Korea, the series' creator, Hwang Dong-hyuk, will join with David Fincher to bring the spinoff to the screen, complete with a fresh cast, plot, and release schedule. The show will supposedly be isolated from the original Korean series. Furthermore, it is unknown whether Blanchett will play the role of a recruiter or star in the series.
According to Collider, spectators may expect to see an enormous crossover between the South Korean drama and the games played by new English players. Since Cate Blanchett's entrance in season 3 of Squid Game, the spin-off series has been gaining popularity online.
Earlier, Hwang addressed considerable spin-off speculation. "I've heard the tales, too—about filming in December, about me directing it, and about David Fincher being involved. Some even think Cate Blanchett is in charge. However, none of this is founded on fact. "I've only seen those things in articles," he said, dispelling the spin-off rumours.
