Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan has been in the news after his former manager accused him of assaulting him. His former manager, Vipin Kumar also filed a police complaint against the Marco actor for alleged physical and verbal assault. The manager claimed that Unni beat him up for praising actor Tovino Thomas 'performance in the latest release Narivetta. However, Unni has denied the allegations against him.

Unni Mukundan denies assault allegations

After Vipin's allegations and complaint, Unni spoke to Manorama Online and denied all allegations of assault. He even denied the claim of beating up Vipin for praising Tovino's film. While Unni admitted to visiting Vipin's house with a mutual friend, he denied any physical assault activities. He claimed their conversation took place in a CCTV-monitored area. The actor claimed that the manager was trying to ‘tarnish his reputation’ and that he had confronted him about that.

“Yes, I removed and broke his sunglasses, but I did not engage in any act that could be called physical assault,” said Unni reacting to the allegations. He also said that this was a “propaganda meant to harm (him) and Tovino Thomas.” “I personally called Tovino and explained the situation. We’ve been friends since we entered the industry and share a strong bond. No false rumour can destroy that friendship,” he added. Unni also claimed to be ‘shocked and saddened’ by how someone who worked with him for years would turn against him.

Manager claims Unni Mukundan assaulted him in a parking lot

Vipin Kumar alleged that the actor came to his apartment complex, demanded that he come down from his flat, and assaulted him in the parking lot.

Kumar said that in the six years he worked for Unni, he endured abusive and assaultive behavior from the actor multiple times. He also spoke about Mukundan’s habit of displacing frustration onto those around him, especially following the failure of his latest release.

In a video covered by Asianet News, Vipin said, "He also used abusive language. I have filed a complaint. I had been working with him for six years. I stayed in that job despite facing teasing and such behavior from him. Recently, He has been frustrated for various reasons, including the lack of good projects since Marco and the failure of his most recent film, Get-Set Baby, at the box office."

Kumar alleged another reason behind Unni’s uncalled-for assault. Recently, Kumar posted a promotional message for Tovino Thomas’ Narivetta as part of his role as a promotional manager. On the same night, Kumar received a call from Unni, who, in a fit of anger, terminated him from the position. Kumar said,

“I am a promotion consultant with 18 years of experience in the industry. I handle PR work for various films and actors and have worked on around 500 projects. As part of Narivetta’s promotions, I shared a note on social media praising the movie. Unni did not appreciate it. He called me that night and dismissed me from my managerial role. I accepted his decision. It was after this incident that he came over and assaulted me.”
