The craze for Rajinikanth's upcoming film Coolie is real. With the film just six days away from release, the makers have opened the bookings. Even in an age of online ticketing, fans were seen rushing to grab their offline tickets for FDFS (first day first show). Sun Pictures, the producers of Coolie, took to their social media handle to give a glimpse of the on-ground madness for the film.

Kerala sees massive demand for tickets

The makers of Coolie dropped a small clip of fans waiting in large numbers outside a theatre in Kerala's Thrissur. The video shows the guards opening the gate and the fans running to form a line outside the ticket counter. The fans rushed to get a good seat booked for the FDFS.

The hype for Coolie in the state of Kerala is massive. The film has reportedly crossed Rs 3 crore in advance sales with six days remaining. So far, the record for the highest-earning film in Kerala is being held by Thalapathy Vijay's Leo. Going by the trends, Coolie is likely to beat the record held by Leo in Kerala.

The Coolie vs War 2 clash

The Tamil film has generated massive buzz owing to the collaboration between Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth. Apart from that, the film also stars Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, and Upendra. Recently, it was rumoured that Aamir Khan was involved in the distribution of Coolie to give it an edge over War 2 in the northern belt of India. However, Aamir Khan’s team has dismissed these reports, stating that his cameo was purely out of goodwill and respect for the makers.

A spokesperson from Aamir Khan Productions clarified, “Neither Aamir Khan nor anyone from his team is involved in the distribution of Coolie. Mr. Khan has not made any calls to any exhibitor or distributor. His cameo in the film is purely a gesture of his bond with director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth. Everyone at AKP, especially Aamir Khan, is thrilled with the success of Sitaare Zameen Par’s YouTube release and is overjoyed with the response it has received.”

Both films are set to hit theatres on August 14, coinciding with Independence Day. War 2 is part of YRF’s spy universe and will introduce Jr NTR and Kiara Advani. On the other hand, Coolie is riding high on the reputation of Lokesh Kanagaraj and his enviable track record.
