Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie has been making waves for a long time now. The buzz around the film has been high, making it one of the most anticipated films of the year. To add to it, the regular updates have made sure that the excitement around the film remains intact. Meanwhile, the makers have been very careful with the promotional material, not revealing much about the film and keeping the speculations sparking. But looks like their efforts were in vain, since the film's story reportedly leaked online recently.

Rajinikanth's Coolie story leaked online

The film's story was seemingly leaked in the synopses of the film on sites like Letterboxd and Fandango. According to the Letterboxd synopsis, Coolie is the story of a mafia gang's rise. The gang is led by Rajinikanth, who plays the character Deva. He makes a plan to reunite his old gang and take over. The synopsis reads, “An ageing gold smuggler uses stolen tech hidden in vintage golden watches to revive his old mafia crew. But his plan to reclaim his empire spirals into something bigger, a new universe forged from crime, greed, and broken time.” It must be noted that Coolie's promotional materials like posters, trailers and more have heavily featured the elements of watches and gold have featured heavily in the film's promotional material.

On the other hand, the US ticketing platform, Fandango, allegedly added more depth to the story, revealing that Deva's character is driven by the need to rectify some past wrongs. The synopsis on the site reads, “Delves into a man's relentless quest for vengeance since youth, driven by righting past wrongs, shaping his very existence. Viewers experience the complexities of his tumultuous vendetta journey.”

About Coolie

Coolie stars Rajinikanth and is helmed by ace director Lokesh Kanagaraj. However, as revealed earlier by the filmmaker, Coolie will not be a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which includes the films Kaithi, Vikram and Leo. The film features an ensemble cast including Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Satyaraj, Upendra, Shoubin Shahir and others.

The music of the film has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Interestingly, Coolie marks Lokesh’s first film with Rajinikanth. The superstar was last seen in Vettaiyan with Amitabh Bachchan and will next be seen in Jailer 2.
