After a seven-month delay, H. Vinoth’s Jana Nayagan is set to arrive in theatres on July 23. The film carries enormous expectations as it is being promoted as Vijay’s final screen appearance. Ahead of the film's release, the director revealed how much of the original remains in Vijay's much-awaited swansong and why he agreed to adapt the story despite his initial hesitation.

Vinoth put a precise number on how much of the original remains. “Jana Nayagan is 50 percent of Bhagavanth Kesari. To be precise, the first half has 60 percent of the film, the second half has 20 percent,” he said.
