Kantara Chapter 1 OTT release
While the film is expected to enjoy a long theatrical run, it will be available for streaming afterward. The streaming rights have been sold to Amazon Prime Video, which already hosts Kantara (2022). Reportedly, the deal was closed for a whopping Rs 125 crore, making Kantara: Chapter 1 one of the highest-paid Kannada films for post-theatrical streaming, second only to KGF 2. The film is expected to release on Prime Video in multiple languages- Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi- ensuring a pan-India OTT experience.
The mythological epic is expected to premiere on Prime Video on October 30, exactly four weeks after its theatrical release. However, the Hindi dubbed version may arrive only after eight weeks, as per industry norms for Hindi films. The platform is yet to make an official announcement.
About Kantara: Chapter 1
Kantara: Chapter 1 is one of Hombale Films' most ambitious projects. The creative team includes music director B. Ajaneesh Loknath, cinematographer Arvind Kashyap, and production designer Vinesh Banglan, who together elevate the film’s visual and emotional impact.
The production also features one of Indian cinema’s biggest war sequences, involving national and international specialists, 500 skilled fighters, and over 3,000 participants. Shot over rugged terrain across 25 acres for nearly 50 days, this massive sequence sets a new benchmark in Indian filmmaking.
Talking about the film, Shetty had earlier said, "I have a dream. To tell the story of my land to the whole world. Our village. Our people. Our beliefs. When I chose to pursue that dream, thousands stood with me. Three years of hard work. Two hundred and fifty days of shoot. No matter the challenges I have faced, the faith never let go of me. My entire team, my producers, they were my backbone. Everyday, as I looked out to the thousands who had gathered to work, one thought kept coming back to me. This is not just a film. This is a divine force. Welcome to the world of Kantara."
