Keerthy Suresh is a prominent face of South cinema, having worked in the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industries. Last year, she also made her Bollywood debut with Atlee's Baby John, co-starring Varun Dhawan. Recently, the actress revealed that she did not receive any offers after her performance in Mahanati, the film that earned her her first National Award for Best Actor.
Keerthy on not getting work after Mahanati
Keerthy addressed the career setback at a recent press event. She played the role of Savitri in the biographical drama directed by Nag Ashwin. The film earned critical acclaim and audience love. At the event, Suresh revealed that despite the massive appreciation, the phase following the film was challenging for her.
Sharing her experience, Keerthy said, “You won’t believe it — after Mahanati released, I didn't get any movie offers for six months. No one even narrated a story. I wasn’t disappointed because I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong. I took it positively, thinking people were taking time to shape a unique character for me. I used that gap for a makeover.”
Mahanati not only showcased Keerthy Suresh's range as a performer but also elevated her fan base, especially in the Telugu industry. The film starred Dulquer Salmaan as Gemini Ganesan, along with Samantha and Vijay Deverakonda in key roles.
Keerthy's work front
The actress is currently gearing up for the release of Revolver Rita. Originally scheduled to hit screens on August 27 for Vinayaka Chathurthi, the action-comedy was postponed. It is now set to release worldwide on November 28 this year.
The film has generated huge excitement among fans ever since the makers released the title teaser.
In the teaser, thugs snatch Keerthy Suresh's handbag while she is buying vegetables. At their hideout, they find a revolver, a blood-stained butcher’s knife and a bomb inside. Minutes later, Keerthy arrives and demands her bag back. Shocked, the criminals ask if she is a RAW agent, underworld don, or cop — but she offers no clear answer. She then receives a call from Radhika Sarathkumar, who plays her mother, asking where the tomatoes are, to which Keerthy casually replies, “Keep the stove on sim, I’m on my way.”
