Lakshmi Manchu, an actor, recounted first experiencing abuse when she was 15 years old and in the tenth grade. In an interview with Hauterrfly, the actor discussed how she grew up sheltered as the daughter of star Mohan Babu. However, an incident on public transportation left her feeling violated and having to deal with the 'awful feeling'. This is what she said.

Lakshmi stated in the interview that she was in the tenth grade and only 15 when she first faced abuse. She claimed that, being Mohan Babu's daughter, she frequently went to school with a driver, bodyguard, and her mother. However, the school once transported them on public transportation to get their hall tickets. She recalls being excited.

Lakshmi Machu reveals she was called liar when confronted

Unfortunately, Lakshmi claims she was inappropriately groped by random persons along the way. “The violation I faced…what is this ugly feeling? I was 15 years old then. I don’t know if they knew I was a little child. I moved away and didn’t get into a fight. I shared it with my girlfriends, and they said it happened to them too. I wasn’t picked as a special girl for this to happen. It happens to everyone,” said the actor.

Lakshmi further stated in the interview that, sadly, such incidents are so regular that if a girl who has ever used public transportation claims she hasn't experienced them, "she's lying." The actor stated that she "fell down crying" during the MeToo movement because she had experienced everything written on a Women's Commission flier.

“Sometimes people will want to mess with you when you’re from a big family because we won’t come out and say it. A theft happens in my house, and I can’t go out and report it. Let the Rs 15,000 go, that’s how I have been raised. Be careful with your things, but if it goes out, you don’t want to put your name out there unnecessarily,” she explained.

Lakshmi last appeared in the 2024 film Adiparvam and the JioHotstar series Yakshini. This year, she competed on The Traitors India.
