Santhakumari, Mohanlal's mother, was originally from Elanthoor in Pathanamthitta, according to NDTV. Years ago, she relocated to Thiruvananthapuram in order to support her husband Viswanathan Nair's professional career. Before his passing, Nair worked for the Kerala government as a law secretary. Pyarelal, Mohanlal's older brother, passed away in 2000 from heart problems.
