Mohanlal announces new movie
Malayalam star is currently basking in the success of his recent release L2: Empuraan, which is enjoying a stellar run at the box office. Despite stirring controversy, the film, also starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, managed to emerge as one of the highest-grossing Malayalam films of 2025. Additionally, his most recent release, Thudarum, helmed by Tharun Moorthy, has also received both critical acclaim and commercial success, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark globally. He was also seen playing a cameo in Vishnu Manchu's recent mythological drama Kannappa.

And now, Mohanlal has announced a brand new film, tentatively titled 'L365'. The film will be helmed by debutant director Austin Dan Thomas, while being written by Ratheesh Ravi. It is being produced by Ashiq Usman under Ashiq Usman Productions.

Taking to social media, Mohanlal announced the news saying, "With immense joy, I announce my next film. Directed by Austin Dan Thomas, written by Ratheesh Ravi, and produced by Ashiq Usman under the banner of Ashiq Usman Productions. Grateful to be part of this exciting new chapter." Although the makers have not yet revealed details like the plot, cast and more, the visuals shared online indicate that Mohanlal may be returning to play a police officer once again. Notably, Mohanlal's cop portrayals are considered iconic.
Debutant director Austin Dan Thomas previously served as chief associate director on the hit crime thriller Anjaam Pathiraa (2020). On the other hand, writer Ratheesh Ravi is known for Ishq (2019) and Alappuzha Gymkhana (2025). The makers are expected to announce more details, including the title, supporting cast, and more, soon.
Mohanlal's upcoming movies
Mohanlal will next be seen in Hridayapoorvam, which is all set for an Onam 2025 release. Besides, he will also be seen in Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan. Patriot features an ensemble cast including Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, and Kunchacko Boban.

Apart from his films, Mohanlal is also reported to make a cameo in Dileep’s upcoming film Bha Bha Ba. Meanwhile, his daughter Vismaya is expected to make her acting debut in Jude Anthany Joseph’s next project, Thudakkam.
