Even as viewers are hooked to long-format storytelling on OTT, a section of the audience has moved to vertical storytelling. Mugdha Godse of Fashion (2008) fame believes in going where the audience is headed. The actor has attempted vertical storytelling with the micro-drama Blackmail, currently streaming on Rocket Reels.

For Godse, the appeal lay in the format’s ability to tell tightly written, fast-paced stories. Director Shadab Khan’s thriller ticked that box. “Since reels worked, I felt that verticals could become the next big space, as the episodes are short and stories are crisp. It’s easy to retain the audience’s attention with a gripping screenplay. When I was approached for Blackmail, I wanted to take it up, owing to the storyline and to challenge myself with something new,” said the actor.
