Emotional scenes as Roi Roi Binale hits the theatres

Videos of the fan buzz from the theatres are being shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the Assamese media. In one post, a special seat was seen kept reserved for Zubeen in the theatres of Assam as a tribute to the late singer. Reportedly, a special chair, draped with a traditional gamocha, was reserved inside the hall at Matrix Multiplex for Garg as a heartfelt tribute to the artist, who redefined Assamese music and cinema. The pictures have since gone viral on social media.

Other visuals show a 90-year-old woman, who couldn't even walk, arriving at the theatre to watch the actor-singer's last film. She was seen being carried by a man in her arms. Other visuals show fans getting emotional and crying inconsolably in memory of the late singer.

Similar scenes were reportedly seen in theatres across Assam, where fans placed garlands and flowers beside large cutouts and photos of Garg, while bowing in silence before entering the halls.

About Roi Roi Binale

Zubeen plays a visually challenged musician in Roi Roi Binale. The story reflects the legendary singer's personal artistic philosophy of love, music, and human emotion over conflict and chaos. Notably, music composer Poran Borkatoky has completed the film’s background score after Zubeen’s passing, said, “Zubeen himself was supposed to do it. Finishing it without him was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Our entire generation learned music through him.”

The film is directed by Rajesh Bhuyan and will feature the "original voice" recordings of Garg. It serves as a final tribute to the singer's immense talent and passion for Assamese music. Bhuyan told ANI, "We were working on this movie for the last three years. The story and music of the movie were by Zubeen Garg... This was the first musical Assamese movie... We had completed almost all the work on the movie, except for the background music. Zubeen Garg wanted this movie to be released on 31st October, so we have decided to release it on the same date, not just in Assam, but nationwide... Zubeen Garg's voice is almost 80-90% clear, as we had recorded it using a lapel mic. So we will use his original voice only."

Zubeen Garg died in Singapore on September 19 after an alleged drowning incident.
