Notably, Sidhu's father, Balkaur Singh, had previously hinted at the release, promising fans that they would hear new music from the late singer on this momentous occasion. Fans globally remembered the singer and expressed their sentiments in the comment section of music videos on YouTube. Similarly, BBC World Service also released a two-part documentary on Moosewala's birth anniversary. The documentary titled ‘The Killing Call’ was released on YouTube and revolves around the assassination of popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. Notably, the documentary was released despite legal opposition from the late singer's father. Balkaur Singh had reportedly filed a legal plea with a Mansa court seeking a stay on the documentary's screening.

According to his lawyer, Satinder Pal Singh, the petitioner claimed that the screening could impact the ongoing criminal trial into Moose Wala’s murder, and also violate the family's right to privacy.

The documentary spans two episodes, with the first part focusing on Sidhu Moosewala’s early life, rise to fame, and the controversies surrounding him. Similarly, the second part talks about the circumstances surrounding his assassination on May 29, 2022.
