Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG witnessed a significant drop in ticket sales over the weekend after its release. The film managed to cross the Rs 110 crore mark on day 2 despite the setbacks

Pawan Kalyan’s latest actioner They Call Him OG continues its blockbuster run at the box office, despite witnessing a fall in ticket sales. The film has set fresh records with its massive opening. The Sujeeth-directed gangster action thriller delivered the biggest opening of 2025 on September 25, overtaking superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie. The film grossed an estimated Rs 100 crore in India on day one, including Rs 25 crore from premiere shows.

With this accomplishment, the film became the seventh-biggest opener for a Telugu movie and the eighth-biggest opener for an Indian film domestically. However, after the record-breaking start, the film recorded a sharp 69.25 per cent drop on day two. It collected Rs 19.6 crore nett, according to trade reports. This brought the two-day total to Rs 104.35 crore nett in India.



Globally, the film has proved to be a force, overtaking Prabhas’ Saaho with Rs 144 crore worldwide on its first day. Of this, Rs 42.50 crore was from overseas markets. The opening also outperformed Jr NTR’s Devara and Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo, both of which earned around Rs 142 crore globally.

At the worldwide box office, They Call Him OG overtook Prabhas' Saaho, which collected ₹130 crore on its opening day. The film grossed Rs 144 crores globally on Day 1 and emerged as a stiff competitor to Jr NTR's Devara and Thalapathy Vijay's Leo, both of which raked in around Rs 142 crores. An estimated Rs 42.50 crore grass earnings on Day 1 came from the overseas market.

Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel in a post on X shared, “OG WW DAY -1 Rs 154 CR GROSS. Biggest Opening for a Indian Film in 2025. PawanKalyan Career Biggest As well.”

About They Call Him OG

Pawan Kalyan plays the titular role of Ojas Gambheera, a fearsome gangster with a single goal, to reclaim his empire and exact vengeance on the current tyrant Omi Bhau. The film has been featured among the top 10 biggest Indian openers globally. It includes an ensemble cast marking the Telugu film debut of Emraan Hashmi in the role of Omi Bhau. It also stars Priyanka Mohan, Prakash Raj, Arjun Das, Sriya Reddy, Shaam, Harish Uthaman, Rahul Ravindran and Jackie Shroff in a cameo.

Made using a budget of Rs 250 crore by DVV Danayya under the banner DVV Entertainment, the gangster drama recorded one of the biggest openings for an Indian movie at the worldwide box office.
