Rajashekar, a doctor turned actor, has returned to filmmaking following a brief sabbatical due to health difficulties. The 63-year-old actor suffered a terrible ankle injury while filming his upcoming picture in Medchal and required surgery. This is everything we know.

What happened to Rajashekar

Rajashekar suffered many ankle fractures while shooting an action sequence in Medchal on November 25. The actor's staff confirms that he sustained a right ankle bimalleolar dislocation with a complex fracture, a severe injury commonly associated with high-impact trauma. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where physicians advised surgery to avoid future difficulties.

Rajashekar had a three-hour procedure. According to his team, the procedure included "right ankle open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) with K-wires for the lateral malleolus, open reduction and internal fixation with cannulated cancellous screws and a semi-tubular plate for the medial malleolus, and trans-fixation of the tibia using a wire passed through the calcaneum and talus."

Doctor suggests rest for three to four weeks

Rajashekar is in 'severe discomfort' following the surgery and is recovering. Doctors instructed him to rest for three to four weeks and keep his wounded leg motionless. The actor has returned to hiatus and has postponed all film shoots until January 2026, pending his rehabilitation. Interestingly, Rajashekar sustained a similar injury to his left leg during the filming of Magaadu in November 1989.

Earlier, Rajashekar had opened up about his health struggle post COVID. He said, "After COVID-19, I couldn’t move properly for some time. Even though I recovered, I realised that work gives me life and energy. I’ve done around 100 films as a hero, and now I’m open to any good role that excites me."

On the work front for Rajashekar lately

Rajashekar was recently featured in Vakkantham Vamsi's 2023 film Extra Ordinary Man, which stars Nithiin and Sreeleela. He is now filming Abhilash Reddy Kankara's Biker alongside Sharwanand, which was originally scheduled for release on December 11. He also has two upcoming films that have yet to be announced. The actor's wife, Jeevitha, and children, Shivani and Shivathmika, have not commented on his condition.
