Tamil filmmaker Vignesh Shivan is gearing up for the release of his film LIK (Love Insurance Kompany). The film stars Pradeep Ranganathan and Krithi Shetty in the lead and is set for an April 10 theatrical release. Ahead of the film’s release, the makers organised an event where the team spoke about the film and their journey.

Vignesh Shivan reveals how Anirudh helped him

During the event, Vignesh recalled how music composer Anirudh Ravichander helped him financially at a time when he was struggling to shoot his second directorial, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. He revealed that he had only Rs 250 at the time, highlighting the extent of his financial difficulties.

Anirudh Ravichander is one of the most successful music composers currently, having worked on several major Tamil blockbusters. He has also collaborated with Vignesh on his upcoming film. Speaking about him, Shivan shared how Anirudh extended help without even being asked. "I wanted to shoot Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in Pondicherry. I didn't have any money. I had only Rs 250 for the bus. While I was travelling, Ani sent a message, 'Vicky, I’ve kept 50k in your bag'.” The bus window was filled with my tears."

Vignesh on his relation with Nayanthara

Vignesh added that he was going through a tough financial phase during the shoot of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, which starred Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi.

Naanum Rowdy Dhaan was also the film that changed Vignesh’s life. His friendship and eventual romance with Nayanthara blossomed during the shoot. The couple got engaged in 2021 and married in 2022. The same year, they welcomed their twin boys.

In an interaction with Gopinath Chandran, Vignesh addressed claims that Nayanthara might be overshadowing him in his career. Dismissing the idea, he said such thoughts have no place in a relationship. “There is nothing of that sort. When we think like that, we can’t move forward in life. In relationships like father-son, brothers, and husband and wife, there is no concept of ‘overshadowing’,” he explained.

The filmmaker also shared a heartwarming incident about how being Nayanthara’s husband helped him in a tricky situation. He recalled stopping at a roadside stall for juice but not having any digital payment option. The shopkeeper recognised him as Nayanthara’s husband and allowed him to leave without paying. “I called Nayan and told her that she saved me that day,” he said.
