Thalaivan Thalaivi OTT release
Prime Video, which bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights, announced that the film will premiere on August 22. Apart from its original Tamil version, Thalaivan Thalaivi will also stream in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. Pandiraaj wrote 18 versions of Thalaivan Thalaivi
In a conversation with IANS, director Pandiraaj revealed that he wrote 18 versions of the script before finalising the romantic relationship drama. He shared that the story was inspired by two individuals he met during a family function. “The plot was inspired by two characters I met when I went with my family to the temple of my ancestors on my son’s birthday. You can’t make a film exactly the way things transpire in real life. So, this film is partly based on that idea — what if something else had happened instead? I started writing it with the intention of keeping it simple, but the more I wrote, the more it evolved into something else,” he explained.
Pandiraj further said he kept refining the script through multiple drafts, “There were 18 drafts before I arrived at the final script. It almost took me a year to complete the process.” The film’s story revolves around a husband and wife deeply in love but on the verge of parting ways due to ego clashes and external influences.
Released on July 25 in Tamil, the film features cinematography by M. Sukumar, art direction by Veerasamar, and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav. Stunts were choreographed by Kalai Kingson. The film, which also featured Yogi Babu in a key role, became a theatrical hit and crossed the Rs 50 crore mark worldwide. The Telugu version of the film titled Sir Madam was released in theatres on August 1.
